Medical Director Overview • The Medical Director will provide medical oversight and direction within a dynamic healthcare setting. • Lead efforts in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care. • Coordinate comprehensive care services, integrating specialist recommendations into patient treatment plans. • Deliver patient-centered medical care, including preventive services and chronic disease management. • Supervise and assess professional performance of medical staff, ensuring adherence to standards. • Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and safety initiatives within the healthcare facility. • Maintain professional growth through participation in educational programs and workshops. • Support the acquisition and maintenance of credentialing data for medical staff. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of medical care programs and operations. Medical Director Key Responsibilities & Duties • Conduct physical examinations and diagnose a wide range of illnesses and injuries. • Administer vaccinations and perform routine screenings and annual wellness check-ups. • Develop and monitor treatment plans for chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. • Refer patients to specialists and integrate their recommendations into care plans. • Educate patients and families on lifestyle changes and disease prevention strategies. • Direct activities of the Limited Service Laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulations. • Conduct regular medical staff meetings to discuss and improve care delivery. • Supervise credentialing processes and ensure professional development of medical staff. • Participate in essential functions such as infection control and quality assurance programs. Medical Director Job Requirements • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution. • Active and unrestricted New York State medical license and DEA certificate. • Board certification in Internal Medicine or a related specialty. • Minimum of five years' experience as a practicing physician in outpatient settings. • Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and medical coding and billing. • Strong leadership and team management skills within a healthcare environment. • Knowledge of Patient-Centered Medical Home care models and clinic operations. • Commitment to professional development through ongoing education and training. • Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities for patient and staff interactions.
