Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Location Fort Wayne, IN | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | 3 Weekend Shifts per 4-Week Period Key Responsibilities • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team • Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and telemetry monitoring • Utilize Epic EHR, Pyxis medication dispensing systems, Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck glucose monitors, and other unit equipment • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries • Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5–6 Required Qualifications • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (compact eligibility as of 7/1/2020) required • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required • Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and may be considered at an adjusted rate Preferred Experience / Skills • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system • Experience managing complex drips, chest tubes, and wound vac therapy in an acute care environment • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols Why Join Us • Work in a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment serving a clinically diverse patient population with exposure to a wide range of procedures and diagnoses • Structured onboarding program including general hospital orientation, nursing-specific orientation days, and Epic training to set you up for success from day one
