Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Location Fort Wayne, IN | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period Key Responsibilities • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI conditions, infections, neurological disorders, and mental health conditions • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication throughout the care continuum • Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps • Utilize Epic EHR, Pyxis, Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, and telemetry monitoring equipment • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries • Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5–6 Required Qualifications • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/20) required • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required • Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard traveler rates; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and may be considered at a locally adjusted rate Preferred Experience / Skills • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system • Experience managing complex drips (heparin, insulin) and specialized equipment such as wound vacs and chest tubes • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in a medical-surgical setting Why Join Us • Work within a large, high-acuity facility offering exposure to a broad and diverse patient population across a wide range of diagnoses and procedures • Structured onboarding through a Jump Start orientation program, including general hospital orientation, nursing-specific training, and Epic classes to set you up for success
