Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Location Fort Wayne, IN | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite Key Responsibilities • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team • Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps • Utilize Epic EHR, Pyxis, Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck blood glucose monitors, telemetry monitoring, and SCDs for VTE prevention • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries • Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5–6 Required Qualifications • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license required • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required • Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard rate; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and may be considered at a locally adjusted rate Preferred Experience / Skills • Experience managing complex, multi-diagnosis patient populations in a high-volume acute care environment • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and management of drip medications • Prior experience floating to multiple medical-surgical units Why Join Us • Work in a dynamic, large-scale acute care environment with exposure to a wide variety of patient diagnoses and procedures • Structured onboarding program including general hospital orientation, nursing-specific orientation days, and Epic training to support your transition to the unit
