Job Title Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Location Olathe, KS | Progressive Care Unit / Step-Down Schedule / Job Type Contract | Full-Time | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 3 x 12-Hour Shifts per Week | Every Other Weekend Required | One holiday per holiday group required based on unit needs Key Responsibilities • Provide direct patient care in a Progressive Care Unit setting with patient ratios of 3:1 to 4:1 • Operate and monitor patients on BiPAP, manage chest tubes, PICC lines, and perform independent lab draws • Care for post-open-heart surgery patients (Day 2 or Day 3) including management of pacer wires • Independently call consults and conduct codes without reliance on a vascular access team • Float to ICU and all inpatient units including Med/Surge, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED based on unit needs and prior experience • Document and manage patient care using the EPIC EMR system Required Qualifications • Active Kansas RN License or valid Compact RN License • BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required • Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department experience • Demonstrated experience with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and independent lab draws • Comfort operating independently without a vascular access team, including calling own consults and running codes • Open-heart post-operative experience (Day 2 or Day 3) with pacer wire management Preferred Experience / Skills • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to manage complex, high-acuity patients • Prior experience floating to ICU, Med/Surge, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, or Emergency Department settings • Familiarity with EPIC EMR Why Join Us • Work in a dynamic, high-acuity step-down environment that offers exposure to a wide range of critical care specialties and float opportunities • Bi-weekly pay with a structured orientation program to set you up for success from day one
