Job Title Registered Nurse – SICU Location Peoria, IL | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Onsite Key Responsibilities • Provide direct patient care in a 13-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 (may vary between 1:1 and 1:3 based on acuity) • Manage a complex patient population including post-surgical, open abdomen, multi-system trauma, and endovascular cases • Titrate drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin as directed by the care team • Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently; monitor techs are available on the unit • Collaborate with an on-site intensivist team (in-house approximately 0700–1900, with telemedicine intensivist support and an on-call attending overnight) and 24/7 respiratory therapy coverage • Fulfill weekend requirements (expected 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period) and rotating holiday coverage (every other holiday) Required Qualifications • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated) • BLS certification required • ACLS certification required • Minimum ICU-level nursing experience required; Level I trauma experience required • Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard contract rate Preferred Experience / Skills • Experience with ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP in an ICU setting • Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records • Experience managing complex titratable drip protocols in a high-acuity surgical ICU environment Why Join Us • Work alongside a robust support team including 24/7 house supervision, nurse aides, monitor techs, and around-the-clock respiratory therapy in a high-acuity Level I trauma environment • Structured unit orientation program designed to set travelers up for success, including EPIC training, educator time, shadowing, and precepted shifts on the unit
