Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Location Fort Wayne, IN | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | 3 Weekend Shifts per 4-Week Period Key Responsibilities • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team • Manage clinical equipment and therapies including IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, heparin and insulin drips, and telemetry monitoring • Utilize Epic EHR for documentation and Pyxis machines for medication management • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries • Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6 Required Qualifications • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/20) required • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required • Minimum 1.5 years of experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates Preferred Experience / Skills • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system • Experience managing complex drip therapies including heparin and insulin • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols • Prior experience floating within medical units in a high-acuity environment Why Join Us • Gain experience in a large, high-acuity facility caring for a broad and complex patient population across a wide range of medical and surgical diagnoses • Structured onboarding through a comprehensive Jump Start orientation program, including general hospital orientation, nursing-specific training, and Epic classes
