Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Location Fort Wayne, IN | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | 3 Weekend Shifts per 4-Week Period Key Responsibilities • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and coordinate inter-professional communication • Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps • Operate unit equipment including Epic EHR, Pyxis machines, Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck blood glucose monitors, and telemetry monitoring systems • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries • Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5–6 Required Qualifications • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/2020) required • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required • Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates Preferred Experience / Skills • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system • Experience managing complex drip medications (heparin, insulin) and advanced wound care devices • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols Why Join Us • Gain experience in a high-acuity, large-volume acute care environment caring for a broad and complex patient population • Structured onboarding program including general hospital orientation, nursing-specific orientation days, and Epic training to support your transition onto the unit
