Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Location Fort Wayne, IN | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite Key Responsibilities • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team • Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps • Utilize Epic EHR, Pyxis medication dispensing, Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, and telemetry monitoring equipment • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries • Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5–6 Required Qualifications • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (compact eligibility as of 7/1/20) required • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required • Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard traveler rates; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and will be considered at a locally adjusted rate Preferred Experience / Skills • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system • Experience managing complex patient populations including neurological, GI, and infectious disease diagnoses • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols Why Join Us • Gain experience in a high-acuity, large-volume acute care environment serving a clinically diverse patient population • Structured onboarding program includes general hospital orientation, nursing-specific orientation days, and Epic training to set you up for success
