Job Title Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / Stepdown) Location Asheville, NC | Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) Schedule / Job Type Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every other weekend expected | Projected Start: August 3, 2026 Key Responsibilities • Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed Progressive Care Unit with a patient ratio of 4:1 (up to 5:1 when stretched) • Perform neurological and spinal checks, C-collar placement, and TLSO brace management • Manage chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, lumbar drains, and feeding tube placement • Administer blood transfusions and monitor patients on tracheostomy and patient lift equipment • Utilize Cerner EMR for accurate and timely documentation • Float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed; collaborate as a team player in a patient-focused environment Required Qualifications • Active RN license valid in North Carolina (or compact license eligibility) • ACLS certification required • BLS certification required • NIHSS certification required • Minimum 2 years of RN experience • Neuro and trauma care experience required Preferred Experience / Skills • Strong background in neuro and trauma care within a progressive care or stepdown setting • Experience with Cerner EMR • Familiarity with Skylift and patient lift equipment Why Join Us • Join a well-staffed, structured unit with clear grid-based staffing and a collaborative, team-oriented culture • Gain valuable experience in a high-acuity progressive care environment with exposure to neuro, trauma, and specialized procedural care
