Job Title Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Location Fort Wayne, IN | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period Key Responsibilities • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders • Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication throughout the care continuum • Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and telemetry monitoring • Utilize Epic EHR, Pyxis medication dispensing, Hospira IV pumps, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, and other unit equipment • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries • Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5–6 Required Qualifications • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/20) required • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required • Minimum 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care experience • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates Preferred Experience / Skills • Proficiency with Epic electronic health records • Experience managing complex, multi-diagnosis patient populations in a high-acuity medical-surgical environment • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and advanced IV therapy management Why Join Us • Work within a structured orientation program designed to support supplemental staff, including general hospital orientation, nursing-specific training, and Epic system classes • Gain experience in a large, high-volume acute care setting serving a broad and clinically diverse patient population
