Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Location Fort Wayne, IN | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite Key Responsibilities • Provide general Medical-Surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders • Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication throughout the care continuum • Manage and operate unit equipment including IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, heating/cooling pads, and telemetry monitoring; administer and manage heparin and insulin drips • Utilize Epic electronic health record, Pyxis medication dispensing systems, and Accucheck blood glucose monitoring • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries • Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6 Required Qualifications • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (compact eligibility as of 7/1/2020) required • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required • Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and will be considered under a local rate structure Preferred Experience / Skills • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system • Experience managing complex drips including heparin and insulin in an acute care environment • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and advanced wound care equipment • Experience caring for patients with mental health comorbidities in a Medical-Surgical setting Why Join Us • Opportunity to work in a high-acuity, large-scale acute care facility serving a diverse and clinically complex patient population • Structured onboarding through a Jump Start orientation program, including general hospital orientation, nursing-specific training, and Epic education
