Job Title Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry Location Chesapeake, VA | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Night Shift | 3x12 or 4x12 Hours (19:00–07:30) | Every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required; travelers are expected to work two of the three winter holidays Key Responsibilities • Provide direct patient care on a high-volume post-surgical unit serving urology and GYN surgical populations • Manage a patient assignment within a typical 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio • Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, including sinus rhythms, heart blocks, lethal rhythms, atrial rhythms, junctional rhythms, and pacing • Document accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR (proficiency required; no exceptions) • Participate in required pre-start compliance modules (approximately 3 hours, completed prior to start date) Required Qualifications • Minimum of two years of recent, relevant Medical Surgical / Telemetry RN experience • Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions • BLS certification through the American Heart Association • Proficiency in Epic EMR — no exceptions • Must pass a telemetry/EKG competency test with a score of 80% or higher prior to or at the start of orientation; one attempt is given with no remediation available — candidates are strongly encouraged to review telemetry content in advance • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; address verification is required prior to offer acceptance Preferred Experience / Skills • Previous travel nursing experience • Experience caring for post-surgical patient populations, including urology and GYN • Strong telemetry interpretation skills, including interval measurements and complex rhythm identification Why Join Us • Work in the Coastal Virginia region, offering proximity to Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities including hiking trails and waterways • Overtime may be available for those on a 4x12 schedule, with overtime pay applicable after 48 hours worked
