Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Location Fort Wayne, IN | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite Key Responsibilities • Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and facilitate inter-professional communication • Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps • Operate unit equipment including Epic EHR, Pyxis machines, Hospira IV pumps, AccuCheck glucose monitors, and telemetry monitoring systems • Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries • Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5–6 Required Qualifications • Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (compact eligibility as of 7/1/20) required • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required • Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard rate; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply but will be considered at a locally adjusted rate Preferred Experience / Skills • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system • Experience managing telemetry monitoring and complex drip management (heparin, insulin) • Familiarity with VTE prevention protocols and use of SCDs • Experience caring for patients with mental health comorbidities including substance abuse and dementia Why Join Us • Work in a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment at a large regional medical center serving a broad and complex patient population • Structured onboarding through a Jump Start orientation program, including general hospital orientation, nursing-specific training, and Epic system classes
