Our recruiting firm is partnering with an established organization seeking an Insurance Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations, statutory reporting, and a small accounting team. This role combines hands-on accounting with team leadership and requires strong property and casualty insurance experience. Responsibilities • Lead and support accounting staff, including reviewing work and managing deadlines. • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities. • Review journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and financial reporting. • Manage statutory reporting and regulatory filings in accordance with insurance requirements. • Ensure compliance with Statutory Accounting Principles, SSAP guidance, and internal controls. • Partner with actuarial, claims, underwriting, and other teams on financial reporting. • Support external audits and regulatory examinations. • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and automation. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. • Property and casualty insurance accounting experience strongly preferred. • Experience supervising, mentoring, or reviewing accounting staff. • Knowledge of statutory accounting and NAIC reporting requirements. • Strong general ledger, reconciliation, financial reporting, and close experience. • Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills. • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities. • CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
