Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Material Flow / Internal Logistics
** This is an engineering role (layout/process optimization), not a warehouse manager/supervisor position. **
Vector’s partner is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to own internal plant material flow across the manufacturing facility–connecting receiving –> storage –> line-side/kitting –> production –> shipping. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on layout and process design, material handling strategy, and end-to-end implementation for multi-million-dollar projects that support production.

What you’ll own (scope & outcomes)
In this role, you’ll lead projects from concept through implementation with goals such as:
• improving material availability at point-of-use and reducing production downtime
• reducing material travel distance and non-value-added handling
• improving pick/kitting accuracy and internal logistics flow
• increasing space utilization / storage density
• standardizing processes, labeling, and traceability to strengthen inventory accuracy
Responsibilities:
• Improve material flow between receiving, warehouse storage, production lines, and shipping.
• Develop and maintain standard material handling processes including receiving, put-away, picking, kitting, replenishment, and shipping.
• Implement line-side material presentation strategies to support efficient production operations.
• Identify and eliminate inefficiencies in warehouse processes, picking methods, and internal logistics workflows.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing material travel distance, improving pick accuracy, and optimizing warehouse throughput.
• Apply Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and value-stream mapping to warehouse and material handling operations.
• Collaborate with materials and planning teams to resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, and replenishment delays.
• Support ERP/MRP system accuracy, including location control, part classification, and warehouse transactions.
• Analyze material demand patterns and storage requirements to improve stocking strategies and warehouse capacity planning.
• Evaluate and implement material handling equipment including racks, carts, pallet flow systems, conveyors, and kitting solutions.
• Develop efficient kitting and staging processes to support assembly operations.
• Improve pallet storage density and warehouse capacity utilization.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse operations.
• Create visual standards, process documentation, and training materials for warehouse personnel.
• Standardize location management and labeling systems to improve material traceability.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• AUTOCAD & VIZIO experience are required
• Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or material handling engineering within a manufacturing environment, with 5-7 years of experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, warehouse layout design, and material flow optimization.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and warehouse location management.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
• Experience with warehouse storage systems, pallet racking, and material handling equipment.
