Full description
A growing heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager / Project Executive to take a leadership role within its project management organization.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished heavy civil professional who wants broader ownership than a traditional Project Manager position. The successful candidate will oversee complex projects while also helping establish stronger project management processes, develop less-experienced staff, and support the continued growth of the organization.
The ideal candidate understands the full lifecycle of a heavy civil project, from contract review and startup through cost control, forecasting, change management, billing, client management, and closeout.
Responsibilities
•
Lead project turnover, startup, planning, and execution
•
Review contracts, scopes, project requirements, and risk
•
Coordinate closely with superintendents and field leadership
•
Manage project costs and financial forecasting
•
Identify, document, price, negotiate, and track change orders
•
Oversee RFIs, submittals, schedules, and project documentation
•
Manage progress billing and coordinate with accounting
•
Maintain strong client, owner, engineer, and general contractor relationships
•
Identify project risks and resolve issues proactively
•
Oversee project closeout
•
Develop and improve project management standards, systems, reporting, and processes
•
Mentor and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and project support staff
•
Help build a scalable project management organization as the company grows
Qualifications
•
Significant project management experience within heavy civil construction
•
Strong understanding of project costs, forecasting, contracts, scope, change management, billing, and project controls
•
Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex construction projects
•
Strong experience working with field operations and experienced superintendents
•
Background in excavation, earthwork, utilities, infrastructure, site development, or similar self-performed civil construction
•
Strong judgment and ability to make decisions independently
•
Excellent communication with clients, field personnel, engineers, subcontractors, and internal leadership
Strongly Preferred
•
Experience managing or mentoring Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers
•
Experience developing project management systems and processes
•
Experience within a structured heavy civil construction organization
•
Previous responsibility beyond managing an individual project portfolio
A specific degree is less important than demonstrated heavy civil construction knowledge, leadership ability, judgment, and a track record of successful project execution.
Compensation will be competitive for an experienced heavy civil leader and may include performance incentives, vehicle or vehicle allowance, and benefits.
