The Company Macdonald & Company is partnered with a multifamily owner and operator to appoint an Accounting Manager in Sacramento. The firm owns and operates a growing portfolio of multifamily communities across California and the Western United States. With a vertically integrated platform spanning acquisitions, development, asset management, and property operations, the company is focused on long-term value creation and operational excellence across its residential portfolio. As the portfolio continues to grow, the firm is seeking an experienced accounting professional to oversee property-level accounting and financial reporting for its multifamily assets. The Position The Accounting Manager will oversee property accounting for a portfolio of multifamily assets, ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting the operational performance of the properties. Working closely with asset management and property management teams, the role will be responsible for reviewing property financials, managing the month-end close process, and maintaining strong accounting controls across the portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with both operational and investment teams within a growing multifamily platform. Role Responsibilities • Oversee accounting for a portfolio of multifamily properties, including general ledger activity and financial reporting. • Manage the monthly close process and review property-level financial statements and operating reports. • Review bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules for portfolio assets. • Analyze property operating results and investigate variances against budget and prior periods. • Work closely with property management teams to ensure accurate coding of expenses and proper financial reporting. • Support preparation of annual property budgets and financial forecasts. • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes related to property operations. • Assist with accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and property refinancing activities as needed. • Coordinate with external auditors and assist with annual audits and financial reporting requirements.
