ICU Registered Nurse (RN) Job & Shift Information Unit: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Shift Length: 12 hours Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Requirements • Years of Experience: 2 Years • Required Certifications: • ACLS (AHA) • BLS (AHA) • NIHSS • PALS (AHA) Position Details This position requires working 12-hour night shifts and may include weekends and holidays. Travelers are expected to float to sister facilities and may also float to MedSurg units as needed. The ICU consists of 8 beds and primarily caters to medical ICU patients. Role Responsibilities • Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:1 to 1:2. • Utilization of Cerner for electronic medical records. • Charge nurse role available; charge nurses typically do not take patients but may assist with break relief. • Read and interpret EKG strips, and care for patients on ventilators. • Collaboration with Hospitalists or Intensivists, who are available onsite. • Availability of an IV team, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy services 24/7. • Self-scheduling with the manager balancing schedules, which are accessible to staff from home. Orientation & Training Floor-specific orientation will include 1 to 2 days with a preceptor to ensure adequate training and integration into the unit. Additional Information • Weekend requirement includes every other weekend. • Holidays will be rotated among core staff, and requests for time off will be considered but not guaranteed. • Scrub colors required are navy, with under shirts in navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets may be navy as optional attire. • ICU layout features a horseshoe configuration, providing a conducive environment for nursing tasks. • Common diagnoses include medical ICU conditions. The PACU is adjacent to the ICU.
