PCU Registered Nurse (RN) Job Information We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced Stepdown Unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical abilities and a patient-centered attitude to provide high-quality care. Position Details • Unit Type: Stepdown • Shift Length: 12 hours • Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week • Years of Experience Required: 2 Years Certification Requirements • ACLS Certification • BLS Certification • NIHSS Certification Unit Information • Number of Beds: 22 • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4 • Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients: Heart failure, Atrial fibrillation, Respiratory distress, Stroke • Drip Titration: RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Nitro • Charge Nurse: There is a Charge Nurse on each shift who takes a full patient assignment • Patient Care Assistants: Available at a ratio of 1:10 • Respiratory Therapy Equipment: RNs will troubleshoot CPAP machines • Telemetry: RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips Shift and Scheduling • Shifts: 06:30-19:00, 18:30-07:00 • Scheduling: Cyclic scheduling is in place • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend • Holiday Requirement: 1 major holiday and 1 minor holiday each year • Floating Requirements: May float to ICU if appropriately skilled and experienced Orientation New hires will receive 1 shift of unit-specific orientation. A pass/fail exam will be administered during the orientation to assess key competencies. Candidates must achieve a score of 90% to successfully complete the orientation. Additional Notes This unit is characterized by a fast-paced environment with frequent admissions and discharges.
