Registered Nurse (RN) Surgical Oncology Unit Information Location: Plano, TX Number of Beds: 30 bed unit Staffing: 48 nurses/support staff General Information This unit specializes in surgical oncology, providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing treatment for cancer. Staff Structure • Day Shift: 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC), 5-6 Registered Nurses (RNs), 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) • Night Shift: 1 Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC), 5-6 Registered Nurses (RNs), 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) Patient Ratios Estimated ratio of 1:5 to 1:6 RNs to patients. Equipment Used • Baxter pumps • SCD machines • Mobilabs • Glucometers Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Meditech Typical Hiring Profile Required Skills • Strong communication skills • Compassion and empathy Preferred Skills • IV insertion • Chemotherapy administration Typical Procedures Performed • Medication administration • Chest tube management • NGT (nasogastric tube) management • Foley catheter management Best Personality Fit Ideal candidates should be team-oriented and able to work collaboratively with others. Experience A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required.
