Medical Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Overview The Medical Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering delegated aspects of direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role requires the application of critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and the ability to make informed decisions based on education and experience, in accordance with State Board of Nursing rules and hospital policies. Key Responsibilities • Provide direct patient care, including physical examinations and data collection. • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and patient education. • Administer medications and perform peripheral IV therapy. • Participate in discharge planning and implement physician’s orders. • Document patient care and maintain accurate records. • Delegate patient care priorities based on staff experience and qualifications. • Provide guidance and supervision for assigned personnel delivering patient care. Requirements • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification. • IV certification. • Experience with Cerner electronic health records. • A permanent address located more than 50 miles from the facility. • A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred. Work Schedule This position is for night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. Location Position available in the region of Flowers Hospital, located in the city of Dothan, AL.
