Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Information The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) features: • Number of Beds: 20 • Number of Staff: 51 • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 9 bedside RNs, 1 Patient Care Technician • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 9 bedside RNs • Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1 • Type of Equipment: Philips monitors, Alaris and Medfusion IV pumps • Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Meditech Typical Hiring Profile The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Required Skills: • Minimum 1 year of current PICU RN experience • BLS and PALS certification • Preferred Skills: • Post-operative cardiac care experience • Venous puncture experience Typical Procedures Performed The following procedures are commonly performed within the unit: • Conscious sedation • Caring for respiratory failure (including ETT and HFOV) • CT placement • Central line maintenance and care Best Personality Fit The ideal candidate will be: • Flexible • Helpful and humble Additional Information Consider the following attributes that may attract professionals to this unit: • Access to new equipment and technology • Experience and tenure of the staff • Various scheduling options available Location This position is located in Denver, CO.
