Med-Surg Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse Unit Information The Med-Surg unit specializes in Trauma, Orthopedics, and General Medical-Surgical care. The unit is equipped with 36 beds and has a dedicated staff of 49 members. Staffing Information • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 3 RNs, 3 LPNs, 3 Patient Care Technicians, and 1 Secretary • Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 3 RNs, 3 LPNs, and 3 Patient Care Technicians Patient Care and Equipment Patient-to-Nurse ratio is 6:1. The unit utilizes a range of medical equipment including: • IV Pumps • Wound Vacuum Systems • Sequential Compression Devices • Kangaroo Pumps • Chest Tubes • Telemetry Systems • Patient-Controlled Analgesia Pumps • Bipap Machines • Epidural Analgesia Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Required: • Active Nursing License • ACLS Certification • BLS Certification • Med-Surg Experience • Strong Team Player Attitude • Critical Thinking Skills • Preferred: • Strong Prioritization Skills • Effective Time Management Skills Typical Procedures Common procedures performed on the unit include: • Wound Vacuum Changes • Wound Care • IV Insertions • Indwelling Foley Catheter Insertions Personality Fit The unit values individuals who are willing to collaborate and work as part of a team. Dress Code Ceil Blue scrubs are required. Sweatshirts and crocs are not permitted.
