PACU Registered Nurse (RN) Shift Information Variable hours are worked per two-week period. There is no guarantee of hours or shift preference. Minimum Years of Experience 2.0 years Certifications/Requirements • General Certifications: PALS, ACLS, BLS/BCLS • Active State of HI License required prior to assignment start date • Proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved medical/religious exemption required before contract start date Job Description The PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for caring for patients during the pre-operative phase and in Phase I and Phase II recovery. Candidates must demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and patient care during the post- anesthesia period. Knowledge of critical care skills is essential for assessing incision sites, monitoring body temperatures, and tracking other indicators of patient stability or complications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Provide care for patients recovering from surgery. • Monitor vital signs and assess patients for complications. • Demonstrate critical thinking skills in patient evaluations. • Collaborate with surgical and medical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Equipment Utilized • Meditech • PCA Pumps • Pyxis • Braun IV Pumps • Cryocuff • SCDs • Bair PAWS Warmers • HP Monitors • Phillips Monitors Qualifications • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a critical care RN (ER & ICU experience may be accepted as a substitute for PACU experience). • Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association. • Current professional license within the state of practice. • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential recommended and may be required for specific roles. • Other specialty-related certifications (e.g., NIHSS & TNCC) are preferred and may be required for specific positions. Shift Requirements Shifts will vary between 8, 10, or 12 hours and may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays across various units. No hours or shift preference is guaranteed. Holiday Coverage Holiday coverage is required.
