Histology Technician Shift Information Variable Shift Experience Requirements Minimum of less than 1 year of experience is required. Certification Requirements • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification • Registry as Histology Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or an equivalent certification Technical Skills Familiarity with the following equipment and systems is required: • Laboratory Information System (LIS) • Hospital Information System (HIS) • Tissue processor • Embedding center • Automatic stainer • Automated coverslipper • Analytic balance • Automated microtome • Microwave • Microscope • Telephone • Tissue floatation bath • Volumetric glassware • Cryostat • Recycler Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
