Staff Accountant About the Role Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build upon their experience in reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities within the mortgage banking industry. The Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, assist with month-end close, and work closely with Senior Accounting team members on special projects and ad hoc requests. Key Responsibilities - Monitor and manage the accounting department inbox - Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations - Prepare and post journal entries - Assist with month-end close activities (5-day monthly close; approximately 9-day quarterly close) - Escalate non-routine accounting issues to appropriate team members - Support the Senior Accountant with ad hoc projects and reporting requests - Utilize accounting and reporting tools including: - Fiserv Prologue (ERP) - Encompass (Loan Operating System) - Excel - Power BI Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting - 1-3 years of accounting experience - Hands-on experience with: - Bank reconciliations - Account reconciliations - Journal entries - Strong Excel skills, including: - Pivot Tables - VLOOKUPs - Mortgage industry experience required Preferred Qualifications - Experience using Power BI Key Details - Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 + discretionary bonus eligibility - Benefits: Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance; 401(k) with Company Match; Paid Time Off (PTO) - Location: Lombard, IL - Work Model: Onsite 5 days/week initially; hybrid flexibility after training - Employment Type: Direct Hire - Schedule: Onsite 5 days/week initially; hybrid flexibility available after training If you're looking to take the next step in your accounting career and gain exposure to a dynamic mortgage accounting environment, we encourage you to apply!
