About Neuron Industries
America deserves abundance.
Neuron Industries is rebuilding industrial automation from the hardware up. We’re building Cortex AIC, an AI-native industrial controller, and Synapse, the development environment engineers use to program, test, deploy, and debug it.
We build the hardware and software together. Our work makes industrial systems easier to develop and dependable on the factory floor.
Come help us build the next generation of American manufacturing.
About the role
You’ll own the electrical architecture and product electronics inside Cortex: embedded compute, industrial I/O, and power. Your designs will go from requirements and first schematic through bring-up, validation, and production.
This is a hands-on role for an electrical generalist who can make system-level decisions and execute the details. You’ll work directly with the founders and firmware and software engineers, establish practical hardware engineering standards, and help shape future electrical engineering hires.
What you’ll build
• Architect boards and interfaces across embedded compute, mixed-signal I/O, communications, and power.
• Design schematics, select components, and develop or direct PCB layouts in Altium Designer.
• Bring up hardware, debug across electrical and firmware boundaries, and turn measurements into design improvements.
• Validate designs against EMC, thermal, vibration, brownouts, surges, and miswiring.
• Own manufacturing handoff, DFM reviews, test strategy, first-article issues, and production improvements.
• Establish useful design reviews, release documentation, and engineering practices that help a small team ship reliable hardware quickly.
What you’ve already proven
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• You’ve personally taken new electronics from concept through production and can explain the architecture, your contribution, what you tested, and what changed.
• You’ve made system-level decisions across digital processing, analog interfaces, communications, and power.
• Strong signal integrity, power integrity, and mixed-signal design fundamentals.
• You own board debugging with oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and rework tools, and can support firmware bring-up.
• Proficiency in Altium Designer.
• You’ve traced manufacturing or field failures to their root causes and improved subsequent designs.
• You can prioritize with incomplete requirements and explain technical tradeoffs to a small team.
What gets you here faster
• Industrial automation or robotics products with demanding reliability requirements.
• SoC or FPGA boards, high-speed interfaces, or high-channel-count industrial I/O.
• EMC testing, manufacturing test development, or contract manufacturer management.
Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $180,000 – $220,000 per year.
How we work
We’re a small team with ambitious goals and a lot to build. We work together in Gardena, move quickly, and take ownership of what we ship. Some days run into the evening as we work through hard problems and get improvements into customers’ hands. We’re looking for people who enjoy that pace and help each other deliver.
We use AI tools throughout engineering to accelerate research, implementation, testing, and documentation. We check the results and remain accountable for what ships.
What you get
• Real ownership. Meaningful equity alongside your base salary. You’ll help build the company and share in the value we create.
• Health, fully covered. 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision.
• Time to recharge. Unlimited paid time off.
• Fuel for builders. Catered lunch and dinner, plus stocked snacks and drinks throughout the day.
Interview process
• Recruiter conversation
• Technical discussion
• Onsite with the team
