Job Details: Job Location: Cleveland - CLEVELAND, OH, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Who We Are Cleveland Thermal has been keeping downtown Cleveland warm since 1894, and cool since 1993. As one of the few district energy systems of its kind in the U.S., we supply steam heat and chilled water to customers across the city. We're part of Corix, which delivers reliable and sustainable energy solutions across North America.   About the Opportunity Putting People First is one of Corix’s core values and central to this role. As HSE Manager, you will shape how safety is led across our Canada and U.S. East operations—supporting crews and leaders in safety-sensitive work and strengthening the critical services our communities depend on. Based at Cleveland Thermal, you will balance HSE leadership and regulatory compliance with field engagement, including site walkthroughs, inspections, audits, incident response, and travel across multiple states and provinces.   What You'll Do Develop and maintain HSE programs, policies, and procedures that comply with OSHA, applicable Canadian occupational health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, and other jurisdictional requirements. Lead field reviews, inspections, audits, incident investigations, and near-miss reviews; analyze trends and drive corrective action with management. Serve as the HSE subject matter expert and liaison for operations, contractors, customers, and regulators; collaborate with the HSE Manager, West to align programs and share best practices across Corix. Deliver training, safety meetings, and competency assessments supporting safety-sensitive work. Track and report HSE performance, KPIs, and regulatory filings; maintain required permits and records for confined space, energy isolation, fall protection, and other critical safety programs. Manage contractor HSE requirements, orientations, permits, and safe work expectations. Support incident prevention, occupational health, environmental protection, emergency preparedness, business continuity, and risk control through practical guidance, training, and program support. Coordinate workers’ compensation matters and support JHSCs/safety committees. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Director, Technical Compliance & HSE and the Corix East leadership team. What We're Looking For: 5–10 years of occupational and environmental safety experience, ideally in a utility setting Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health, with experience in management, safety task analysis, and workers’ compensation. Experience in steam, chilled water, natural gas, water, or wastewater operations is also preferred. OSHA 511, 7500, 7505, and 7845 (or Canadian equivalents), or willingness to complete within an assigned timeframe Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel periodically to support assigned sites across Canada and the U.S. A credible field presence and strong communication and training skills Comfortable in office, plant, and field environments, including wearing required PPE   The anticipated salary range for this position is USD $88,000 – 106,000 per year, based on relevant experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for a variable compensation bonus plan.
