Registered Nurse (RN) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical unit. This position offers a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population. Job Details • Unit: 6 West MedSurg CC11244 • Unit Type: Medical Surgical • Shift Length: 12 hours • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week • Years of Experience Required: 2 years • Required Certifications: BLS Certification • Shift Notes: 12 hr days Qualifications • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience. • At least 6 months of recent Level 1 trauma experience is required OR experience at a facility with 400+ beds. • Proficient in EPIC charting; no training will be provided during orientation. • One completed travel assignment is highly preferred, but not required. Unit Details The Medical Surgical unit comprises various smaller units with specific patient capacities, including: • 2 West: 13 beds • 6 West: 14 beds • 7 South: 12 beds • 4 Wiser: 30 beds • 5 Wiser: 25 beds Nurse-to-Patient Ratios vary from 1:5 to 1:6, with adjustments for higher acuity patients. Common Diagnoses and Patient Types Patients on this unit may include individuals with: • General medical-surgical conditions • Congestive heart failure • Diabetes • Post-surgical recovery • Trauma • Acute kidney injury • Sickle cell anemia • Respiratory illnesses Working Environment • Nurses will manage and titrate heparin drips. • All units have tele capability, with patient monitoring from a central station. • Nurse managers are available on-site during weekdays and provide support during weekends. • Travelers may be expected to cover scheduling gaps, with some flexibility for block scheduling. • Every other weekend or two weekends per month is a standard requirement. • Holiday rotations will occur based on the needs of the department. • Floating to different MedSurg units may occur according to staff skillsets. • Professional and solid color scrubs are required. • Orientation consists of paperwork and training for system logins followed by hands-on support. Additional Requirements • Flu vaccination is mandatory unless medically exempt with appropriate documentation. • FBI fingerprinting is required, which can be processed in-person or remotely.
