Our engineers are the lifeblood of our company, and we’re more than 5,000 strong. With robust educational and career-development opportunities, your potential to grow is limitless.
The Digital Architecture Team (DAT) is seeking an experienced (Manufacturing) Software Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for architecting and scaling the manufacturing platform that enables the seamless onboarding of new customers and systems, while ensuring the reliability and performance of global factory deployments. The team designs, implements, and deploys a highly scalable, gRPC microservices platform comprised of data pipelines, schemas, governance controls, databases, transformation workflows, and data-serving capabilities used by internal and external customers.
This is a player-coach role. The manager will lead engineers, define the platform's technical vision, collaborate with stakeholders, and remain hands-on in architectural design, CI/CD strategy, and system reliability.
Hybrid:
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform work onsite, some efforts may be (mostly) full-time on-site. Work that can be done remotely will allow for a hybrid working environment.
Pursuant to a government contract, this position requires U.S. citizenship.
Key Responsibilities
•
Drive the roadmap and delivery of the Manufacturing Platform, creating scalable software services that power factory operations, including those that interact directly with customers
•
Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, including software development, factory operations, and customer support
•
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer requirements and develop software solutions that meet those needs
•
Design, develop, and implement software systems that integrate with factory equipment and manufacturing processes
•
Lead systemic reliability efforts, utilizing root-cause analysis to evolve the platform and eliminate recurring operational bottlenecks.
•
Define the operational standards and governance for the platform to ensure high availability and scalability across diverse manufacturing environments.
•
Collaborate with engineering, operations, security, and customer stakeholders to define requirements and deliver validated software solutions.
•
Improve production reliability through monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive engineering work.
•
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, data analytics engineers, and business intelligence engineers.
