NTT DATA strives to hire exceptional, innovative and passionate individuals who want to grow with us. If you want to be part of an inclusive, adaptable, and forward-thinking organization, apply now.
We are currently seeking a SSIS and SQL Server Support Tech Lead to join our team in Addison, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).
We are looking for an experienced SSIS & SQL Server Support Tech Lead to lead and support critical database, ETL, and data integration environments. This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role requiring deep SQL Server/SSIS expertise, strong production support experience, confident people leadership, and the ability to manage complex cross-functional situations.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable leading critical incidents, working hands-on to solve complex technical problems, managing stakeholder expectations, and driving teams across multiple departments and dependencies. Beyond keeping systems operational, this person will be expected to proactively identify opportunities for automation, performance improvement, modernization, process simplification, cost/effort reduction, and improved user experience.
Key Responsibilities
•
Production Support & Incident Leadership: Lead troubleshooting and resolution of critical SQL Server, SSIS, ETL, database, batch, and job failures. Take command during major incidents, coordinate cross-functional teams, drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and ensure permanent corrective actions.
•
SQL Server Performance: Analyze and optimize complex T-SQL, stored procedures, indexes, execution plans, blocking/deadlocks, database performance, and high-volume workloads.
•
SSIS & ETL: Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance SSIS packages for performance, resiliency, restartability, error handling, logging, monitoring, and data quality.
•
Technical & People Leadership: Lead, mentor, and guide engineers; establish technical standards and best practices; conduct code/script reviews; improve team capability and reduce dependency on individual SMEs.
•
Cross-Functional Leadership: Work confidently across application, infrastructure, database, data engineering, business, vendor, and other teams. Understand upstream/downstream dependencies and drive issues to resolution regardless of organizational boundaries.
•
Automation & Continuous Improvement: Automate repetitive operational activities using PowerShell, Python, T-SQL, SQL Agent, or similar tools. Proactively identify solutions that reduce incidents, manual effort, processing time, and operational cost.
•
User Experience & Innovation: Identify opportunities for dashboards, monitoring, self-service capabilities, or lightweight UI solutions that simplify support processes and improve business/user experience.
•
Modernization: Recommend opportunities to modernize legacy SQL/SSIS workloads using technologies such as Databricks, Python, PySpark, cloud data platforms, and modern ETL/data engineering patterns.
Required Qualifications
•
9+ years of overall IT experience, with significant experience supporting enterprise production environments.
•
5+ years hands-on SQL Server experience including T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, execution plans, performance tuning, SQL Agent, backup/recovery, and production troubleshooting.
•
5+ years hands-on SSIS experience including development, deployment, troubleshooting, optimization, monitoring, and production support.
•
Strong experience leading production support teams, critical incidents, RCA, and on-call/support operations.
•
Working knowledge of PowerShell and/or Python for automation.
•
Experience with Databricks, Python, PySpark, large-scale ETL/data processing, or modern cloud data platforms is a strong differentiator.
•
Strong client/stakeholder-facing skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues, business impact, risks, and recommendations clearly.
•
Demonstrated ability to lead people with confidence, make decisions under pressure, navigate cross-team dependencies, and take ownership through resolution.
We are looking for a hands-on technology leader, not just a support coordinator — someone who can stabilize today's environment while continuously finding better ways to automate, simplify, optimize, and modernize it.
