Responsibilities:
Accurately diagnose vehicle concerns and create complete repair orders documenting the diagnosis, work performed, repair procedures, and parts required.
Maintain, update, and repair fleet vehicles to keep them operational while minimizing vehicle downtime.
Assist Engineering with fleet software updates, hardware updates, retrofits, and other vehicle improvement activities.
Partner with Engineering and Operations to optimize scheduling and prioritization of vehicle repairs.
Deliver high standards for diagnostic accuracy, first-time fixes, repair quality, and timeliness.
Maintain detailed and accurate online records of vehicle issues, repairs, and service history.
Manage parts inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain partners to support repair and fleet-readiness needs.
Proactively communicate field observations, recurring vehicle issues, and service insights to engineering and other relevant internal teams.
Conduct post-repair test drives and validation checks to confirm that issues have been resolved.
Perform all work in accordance with GM safety standards, procedures, and policies, with safety as the top priority.
Stay current on required continuing education, technical training, policies, and procedures.
Take an active leadership role in onboarding, coaching, and developing new technicians through hands-on instruction, demonstrations, and structured feedback.
Help assess technician capability and identify opportunities for additional training, skills development, and process reinforcement.
Provide initial technical support and guidance to contracted technicians, as needed and where qualified.
Spearhead the development and rollout of new service processes, repair methods, and field-support workflows in partnership with Engineering and Operations.
Identify opportunities to improve technician effectiveness, repair consistency, first-time-fix performance, and vehicle uptime.
Travel as needed for vehicle retrofits, technician training, new-site launches, and general market support.
Create, maintain, and continuously improve training materials, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, process documentation, and other service resources.
