Description About Bouldering Project Bouldering Project is more than a climbing gym - we're a community. We're driven by a shared belief: that climbing, movement, and connection should be accessible to everyone. From first-timers to seasoned climbers, families to fitness enthusiasts, and our own teammates - we create inclusive, inspiring spaces where people move, grow, and belong. With world-class climbing, yoga and fitness offerings, and welcoming community spaces, we're proud to serve communities across the U.S. - and we're just getting started. About the Role In addition to our Eckington location, we are thrilled to add a second DC Bouldering Project climbing gym in Columbia Heights, located directly across from the Columbia Heights metro stop. To support the new gym’s opening in early 2027, along with our Eckington location, we’re seeking an energetic, well-connected Campus Ambassador. This role is designed to jumpstart an ongoing relationship between Bouldering Project and the Howard University community, driving awareness of our spaces and offerings, establishing a relationship with the student community, and building a pipeline of student members at our gyms. As a key voice on campus, you will lead grass-roots marketing strategies, execute pre- and post-opening activation events, connect with campus organizations, and establish meetups in our spaces. What You'll Do Pre-Opening Activation (November – Opening Early 2027) • Drive Campus Awareness: Represent Bouldering Project across Howard’s campus through flyering, tabling, handing out swag, and engaging directly with students. • Build a student membership base: Drive initial interest and sell Founding Student Memberships to Howard students. • Community Outreach: Connect with campus leaders, Greek life, athletic programs, and student organizations to build foundational relationships. Post-Opening Activation & Engagement (Opening Early 2027 – February) • Student Climb Nights: Organize, promote, and host regular student climb nights at the gym to foster a strong campus climbing community. • Student Meetup & Club Leadership: Help establish and facilitate regular meetups in our spaces. • Ongoing Sales & Marketing: Continue on-campus awareness activities that drive student memberships. Requirements What You'll Bring Required Qualifications • Currently enrolled student at Howard University with strong campus connections and involvement in student life. • Passionate about building community and marketing experience • Self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently, manage a 10-hour weekly schedule, and manage physical event activations/materials. • Professionalism and a commitment to representing BP values of inclusivity Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience in community organizing, event planning, marketing, or sales. • Interest or experience in climbing, yoga, or fitness (climbing experience is welcomed, but not required—we love teaching new climbers!). What We’ll Provide: • Training, coaching, and mentorship in marketing, sales, and business growth • Bouldering Project swag, event gear, and physical activation materials Working at Bouldering Project At Bouldering Project, we aim to cultivate excitement for movement, belonging, and community. We lead by example - making our spaces and offerings accessible and welcoming to all. Our core values - Inclusive, Quality-Obsessed, Local at the Core, and Growth-Oriented - are expected to be demonstrated in both leadership and daily operations. These values guide how we build community, deliver exceptional experiences, and continually evolve together. This role may require a flexible schedule, including availability during evenings, weekends, or outside standard business hours depending on programming and business needs. Compensation & Benefits: • Competitive Hourly Pay (10 hrs/week) • Free Bouldering Project Membership for you and a plus one during the time period. • Discounts on gear, merchandise, and local retail partners • Hands-on experience in grassroots marketing, sales, event coordination, and business growth • A joyful, supportive, and respectful work culture Equal Opportunity Bouldering Project is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds - including those with nontraditional career paths - to apply.
