ICU Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU setting, ensuring their comfort and safety. Unit Details • Number of Beds: 33 beds, average daily census of 16 • Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adults • Common Diagnoses: Trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, adult sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress • Titration of Drips: Required for any cardiac drip, insulin, and sedation • Nurse Aides: Available based on census; responsibilities may include 1:1 monitoring or assisting on the floor as needed • Equipment: Includes vent settings, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow setups; RNs will troubleshoot equipment as required Shifts & Scheduling • Shift Length: 12 hours • Shift Timing: 0630-1830 or 1830-0630 • Self-Scheduling: Available for core staff; travelers will be scheduled accordingly • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend • Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period • Orientation: 1 shift of unit/department-specific orientation • Floating: Typically to PCU or occasionally MedSurg, maintaining the same patient ratio Qualifications • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required • NIHSS certification required Additional Information • RNs are expected to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips, with tele tech oversight of monitors • Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care; refusal to comply will lead to termination of contract • All RNs must pass an open-book exam during orientation, achieving a minimum score of 90% to remain in the position If you meet the qualifications and are looking to contribute to a dynamic and critical care environment, we would love to hear from you.
