Job Site Mission Pet Health Job Description The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives is an owner-operator of innovative business-facing initiatives across a $3.5B revenue organization: accountable for the performance and direction of an established, hospital-facing business line today, and the 'zero-to-one' resource to source, build, and scale the programs that come next. This role owns a P&L, sets product and program direction, and guides early-career teammates, while building the standards, processes, and playbooks to continually elevate the organization. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial operator who has built or scaled a program, product, or business line. This leader should be hungry to solve abstract business problems with a high degree of precision, be comfortable owning a P&L and a room, and bring the analytical rigor to leverage business data into insight-driven decisions. Responsibilities • Own the P&L for an established business line: labor budget, margin and efficiency targets, and pacing - including spend coordinated with vendors and third parties on behalf of Mission's hospitals • Build the operating system for the teams you lead and special projects you take on: standards, SOPs, KPIs, quality controls, and automation that improves service quality, data accuracy, and speed to delivery • Lead, develop, and galvanize supported teams toward measurable, continuously improving performance • Drive platform development and functionality for the business lines you own: roadmap, effectiveness, and readiness for future growth • Identify operational gaps and opportunities across the platform and partner with Field and Operations leaders to drive business results • Produce strategy documentation and executive-ready presentations that advocate for your business lines with senior leadership, Field leaders, and hospital teams • Support relationships with external vendors, independent providers, and industry partners, including contract language, sponsorships, and ROI follow-up • Partner across Recruiting, Implementation, Payroll, IT, Finance, and Legal to launch and run complex collaborative programs Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field (graduate degree preferred) • 5–8 years in operations, program or product management, strategy, or general management; healthcare, staffing, marketplaces, or multi-site services preferred • 2–5 years leading people-leaders of early-career or high-volume teams • Demonstrated entrepreneurial track record: built, launched, or scaled a program, product, or business line with P&L accountability • Excellent project management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail • Gifted storyteller, strong writer and presentation builder. Runs effective meetings with field and executive audiences • Business-model and P&L literacy; highly proficient, documented skills in Excel; fluent consumer of BI reporting (Power BI) with light build ability • Fluency with AI tools to accelerate analysis, documentation, and presentation work How You're Supported As part of the Mission Pet Health family, you get the stability of a local practice backed by the comprehensive benefits and resources of a larger network. The focus is on investing in you, so you can focus on what you love. Note: Our comprehensive benefits package is designed to support you at every stage. Eligibility for specific benefits varies based on your role and hours worked. Competitive Compensation A competitive hourly rate or salary based on your experience and role. Health & Wellbeing We offer comprehensive coverage options including Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, along with access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for all teammates. Financial Security Plan for your future with our 401k retirement options and additional financial protection benefits like Life Insurance and Disability coverage. Commitment to Growth We support your career goals with opportunities for professional development, including educational assistance for qualified teammates to enroll in AVMA-accredited veterinary technician programs. The Power of a Network Join a nationwide community of over 20,000 veterinary professionals who share a passion for collaboration, career growth, and sharing best practices. Valuable Perks Enjoy discounted veterinary care for your own pets, access to an online discount platform, and free 24/7 access to doctors through Teladoc.
