Job Skills / Requirements Under limited supervision, supervises the operation, and process laboratory functions of the Drinking Water Treatment (DWT) Department ensuring compliance with all applicable agency policies and procedures, and federal/state/local laws and regulations pertaining to the collection, treatment and distribution of the public water supply. Ensures water quality and quantity from reservoir to the customer. Ensures that DWT facilities, advanced and conventional treatment processes as well as associated assets are operated, maintained and managed in good working order in accordance with industry standard as well as Spartanburg Water Mission, Vision and Purpose. Reports to the Director of Drinking Water Services. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Requires a Bachelor’s degree in science, sanitary engineering, environmental health or other science/engineering field, supplemented by six to nine years of experience in the operation and maintenance of water production, purification and water treatment equipment and facilities – three to five of which have been in a supervisory capacity. Must possess a S.C. Class “A” Water Treatment Operator certification or have the ability to secure an “A” certification within one year of employment. Must possess a Class “D” Water Distribution Operator certification or have the ability to secure a “D”certification within two years of employment. Must obtain a certification in First Aid/CPR. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
