Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a fast-paced stepdown unit. Unit Information • Unit Type: Stepdown • Number of Beds: 22 • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4 • Common Diagnoses: Heart failure, Atrial fibrillation, Respiratory distress, Stroke • Common Drips: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro Responsibilities • Provide nursing care to stepdown patients and support their recovery. • Interpret and manage telemetric data and read ECG strips. • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care. • Titrate drips as necessary and manage medication administration. • Assist with the use of respiratory equipment such as CPAP. • Supervise and coordinate nursing care, including the oversight of nurse aides and patient care technicians. Qualifications • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar role. • Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS • Must have a valid driver’s license at the time of submission. • Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas. Schedule and Commitment • Shift Length: 12 hours • Shift Timing: Night shifts preferred • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend • Holiday Requirements: 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year • Floating Requirements: May float to ICU as needed, contingent on experience Orientation and Training • Participants will undergo a single 12-hour unit-specific orientation. • Passing an exam during orientation is mandatory; the exam is open book and requires a minimum score of 90% for successful completion.
