For more than 45 years we have built across Florida in hospitality, multi-family, industrial, healthcare, and the public sector, with project values ranging from $5M to $160M. Our work is guided by our GRIT values — Growth, Resourcefulness, Integrity, and Teamwork — and a culture built on doing right by our people, our trade partners, and our clients. The Opportunity The General Carpenter performs skilled rough and finish carpentry on HBC jobsites — from forms and framing to cabinets, doors, and finish hardware. This is hands-on craftsmanship work that directly shapes the quality our clients see. You'll work under the leadership of a Superintendent with expectations that you will take pride in detail, and help keep the site safe, organized, and moving. What You'll Do Carpentry & Installation • Install finish items such as counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, door frames, and finish hardware. • Fabricate and install forms; prepare and set batter boards; prepare anchor bolt templates and set anchor bolts. • Set trusses, sheathing, and framing. • Build cabinets and wooden assemblies in the carpenter shop. • Read and interpret blueprints to assist with layout. Quality & Site Support • Exhibit consistent concern for quality and detail and complete tasks with limited supervision. • Follow construction plans and instructions delivered in written, oral, or diagram form. • Support HBC's safety culture and keep the work area clean, safe, and organized. What You Bring to the Role • 1–3 years of carpentry or related construction experience. • Working knowledge of basic geometry and the ability to operate a variety of electric and gas-powered hand tools. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to assist with layout. • Able to read and comprehend instructions, safety manuals, and short correspondence. • Able to solve practical problems in standardized situations and work without direct supervision. • Valid Florida driver's license. • Standard carpentry hand tools required, including: tool belt, hammer, tape measure (50' or 100'), speed and framing squares, 2' and 4' levels, wood and cold chisels, hand saw, coping saw, block plane, utility knife, nail set and puller, chalk box, plumb bob, center punch, pliers, screwdrivers, and adjustable/Allen wrenches. • Power tools and specialty equipment are provided or specified by the project as needed. • High school education preferred • OSHA 10-Hour certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). • First Aid certification preferred. WHAT WE OFFER • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience • Profit sharing and bonus opportunities tied to company and project performance • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage • Company-provided life insurance and short- and long-term disability protection • 401(k) with company match • Paid time off, company holidays, and paid parental leave • Wellness program reimbursement to support your health and well-being • Annual stipend for company-branded apparel • Ongoing training, certification support, and clear paths for advancement • A collaborative, values-driven culture grounded in GRIT This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee.
