We are looking for an experienced Funeral Director and Embalmer to lead our North Dayton Chapel. As one of our higher-volume locations, North Dayton requires a confident, hands-on leader who can manage multiple priorities, keep daily operations moving smoothly, and ensure that every family receives attentive, compassionate service. In this role, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the chapel, develop and support your team, and remain actively involved in serving families. You will bring an ownership mindset to staffing, service quality, financial performance, facilities, and the overall success of the location. What You’ll Do Lead daily funeral home operations with an ownership mindset Coach, mentor, and support a dedicated team Create a positive, accountable team culture grounded in Newcomer’s Core Values Serve families through funeral arrangements and services with care and professionalism Take responsibility for the location’s financial performance, cost awareness, and accounts receivable Ensure compliance with Ohio, federal, local, and company standards Build relationships within the North Dayton community and represent Newcomer professionally Maintain the professional appearance, readiness, and reputation of the chapel, grounds, vehicles, and equipment What We’re Looking For An experienced funeral service leader who is comfortable managing a busy, high-volume operation Someone who values teamwork, accountability, and community trust Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills A minimum of five years of similar or related experience : Licensure Requirement (Ohio) Ohio licensure requires completion of an accredited mortuary science program, successful passage of both sections of the National Board Exam, and compliance with state licensing regulations. Ohio allows licensure reciprocity for licensed funeral directors with qualifying experience from another state.
