Von Tobel Lumber is seeking a full-time Lumber Yard Laborer for our Lafayette, Indiana location. This position plays an important role in supporting our contractor and retail customers by maintaining efficient lumber yard operations, loading building materials, and ensuring accurate inventory handling. Responsibilities: • Build lumber and building material loads for customer deliveries • Load and unload delivery trucks safely and efficiently (in the lumberyard, jobsites and residential deliveries) • Operate a forklift to move lumber and building materials throughout the yard • Maintain accurate inventory • Inspect products for quality and accuracy • Process product returns in a timely and organized manner • Assist contractors, customers, and delivery drivers • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lumber yard environment • Communicate any delays, damages, or discrepancies to management • Support other yard and warehouse operations as needed Preferred Experience • 2+ years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or lumber yard operations • Forklift operating experience • Familiarity with building materials and lumber species • Previous experience working in a lumber yard or building materials environment Physical & Work Requirements • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask Why Join Von Tobel? • Over 60 years of service excellence • 100% employee-owned company • Stable, full-time employment with growth opportunities • Team-oriented environment focused on service and reliability • Stores closed on Sundays What We Offer: We provide a competitive compensation and benefits package. • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • 401(k) with company match • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) • Paid time off • Employee discount • Training and development opportunities • Plus, our stores are closed on Sunday.
