Full description

Engineer II, PON Help build the fiber network that connects more communities. At WOW!, we’re expanding our fiber footprint—and we’re looking for an Engineer II, PON to help make it happen. In this role, you’ll take fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) projects from initial design through deployment, helping deliver reliable connections to the communities we serve. If you enjoy hands-on engineering, solving complex network challenges, and owning projects from start to finish, this is an opportunity to put your expertise to work. You’ll serve as a technical specialist for an assigned Optical Line Terminal (OLT) platform, partner across teams, and help establish standards that support our growing network. What WOW! Offers • Base salary of $90,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits: • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options • 401(k) with company match • Paid time off and company holidays • Tuition reimbursement to support your continued development • Employee broadband discounts What You’ll Do • Take projects from design to deployment. Design, test, deploy, and support PON/FTTH projects through operational handoff. • Be a go-to platform expert. Own configuration, troubleshooting, and technical best practices for your assigned OLT platform. • Deliver quality builds. Develop bills of materials (BOMs), coordinate with vendors, and ensure network turn-ups meet quality standards. • Solve complex network challenges. Partner with Field Operations, the Network Operations Center (NOC), and Customer Care to resolve escalations and service-impacting issues. • Make technical knowledge accessible. Create and maintain configurations, procedures, and vendor-specific runbooks that help teams operate consistently and troubleshoot independently. • Help others grow. Guide junior engineers as they build troubleshooting and project execution skills. • Keep projects moving. Independently manage assigned work and contribute to larger initiatives across teams. What You’ll Bring • 2–4 years of experience in fiber access/PON engineering or a related network engineering environment. • In-depth, hands-on experience with a specific OLT platform, such as Calix, Nokia, or Adtran/DZS. • A solid understanding of XGS-PON and fiber access architecture. • Familiarity with the Linux operating system. • A CCNA certification (preferred NOT required) or equivalent networking experience, including an understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 architectures and technologies • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. • Clear written and verbal communication, strong organization, and attention to detail. • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and with a collaborative engineering team. Work Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Regularly required to talk and hear • Required to use hands to type, handle objects and paperwork • Required to use close vision and be able to focus • Ability to work on-call and/or overnight shifts Ready to help expand what’s possible with fiber? Apply today and build your next chapter with WOW! All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran
