Job Summary
At Purdue University, your work can make a meaningful difference in the lives of students when they need support most. As a Staff Therapist, Access & Consultation, you will help students connect to care through timely clinical services, consultation, and brief interventions that promote well-being, resilience, and academic success.
In this flexible and collaborative role, you will serve as a key member of the Counseling and Psychological Services team, helping ensure students have access to high-quality mental health support. By responding to emerging clinical needs, providing consultation and triage services, and maintaining continuity of care, you'll help create a campus environment where students feel supported, empowered, and equipped to thrive.
Responsibilities Include:
• Provide timely access to mental health support through one-time appointments, consultations, triage, and brief clinical interventions.
• Respond to fluctuating student demand and emerging clinical needs while helping optimize service capacity across the counseling center.
• Deliver individual, couples, and group therapy services based on student and departmental needs.
• Collaborate with counseling center colleagues to maintain continuity of care and provide coverage during staffing or service needs.
• Participate in on-call services and crisis response activities as assigned.
• Conduct clinical assessments and connect students to appropriate resources and levels of care.
• Provide mental health consultations to students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
• Deliver outreach programming that promotes student well-being, mental health awareness, and help-seeking behaviors.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to ethical, legal, and professional standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary campus partners to support student success and holistic well-being.
• For licensed therapists, provide supervision and mentorship to therapists-in-training as needed.
• Contribute to a culture of care, inclusion, and continuous improvement within the counseling center.
What Sets Us Apart:
This role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact by helping students access support when they need it most. Rather than carrying a traditional long-term caseload alone, you'll work across multiple service areas, including access, consultation, triage, therapy, outreach, and crisis response. This variety allows you to address emerging needs, support a broad range of students, and contribute to a responsive, student-centered model of care. Other highlights include:
