Summary Incumbent will perform patient care, technical and clerical services in the outpatient setting. Incumbent must be able to document and retrieve patient and work related data electronically via several standardized computer programs, as well as, written hard copies. Duties Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Assist medical provider in clinic, obtaining vital signs and other body measurements, including chief complaint and brief patient history. Perform simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as preoperative preparation of the skin, 12- lead EKG, collecting specimens, applying bandages and dressings as directed. Perform routine waived laboratory tests in the clinic. May collect serum via venipuncture or assist patient to collect urine. Work is performed on a regularly assigned or rotational basis to provide continuity of patient care, possible during evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-05 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Responding to emergencies, checking in patients, assisting with patient direct care, documenting patient medical issues, answering phone calls, arranging appointments, assisting with patient discharge, performing waived tests, and obtaining laboratory results. Collecting specimen, performing injections and immunizations. OR Successful completion a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position; OR Have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-06 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Preparing patient for medical examinations, recording patient information, performing routine specialized procedures, assisting with sterile procedures, restocking supply, preparing transfer/transport packets, participating in meetings, assisting with oxygen administration, and participating in performance improvement projects. Performing procedures such as venipunctures, injections, immunizations and intravenous cannulations. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
