The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. As a Patient Support Associate, you will play an important behind-the-scenes role in maintaining clean and safe patient care environments, transporting patients to and from the department, assisting with patient positioning and care, and ensuring essential supplies are available when they are needed. The Patient Support Associate role may be the perfect fit for you if you take pride in keeping your surroundings clean and organized, enjoy helping others, and understand that even the smallest details can make a big difference in healthcare. Whether you're preparing an OR room for the next patient, transporting a patient safely, responding to an urgent request, or making sure supplies are stocked and ready, your work helps the care team focus on what matters most—providing exceptional care to every patient. As a Patient Support Associate, a typical day might include the following: • Cleaning and sanitizing OR rooms, sub-sterile areas, and other assigned department spaces according to established schedules, procedures, and prescribed methods. • Responding promptly to emergency spills and other urgent cleaning needs to help maintain a safe environment. • Transporting and transferring patients safely to and from the department while following appropriate patient identification procedures. • Assisting with patient positioning and other aspects of patient care as directed by the clinical team. • Remaining attentive to each patient's condition during transport and immediately communicating unusual incidents, changes, or concerns to the RN or appropriate team member. • Monitoring the oxygen flow meter during patient transport to help ensure adequate oxygen flow throughout the journey. • Cleaning and disinfecting transport equipment after every patient transport using appropriate disinfecting materials. • Maintaining appropriate inventory levels of housekeeping supplies and restocking locker rooms, restrooms, storage areas, and other assigned locations. • Emptying waste baskets, removing trash, and transporting waste from utility rooms and designated collection points to the appropriate disposal areas. • Scrubbing and buffing floors with approved equipment when requested. • Washing mop heads and maintaining cleaning equipment so it is ready for use. • Using department communication tools correctly and responding in a timely manner to requests from patients, staff, and the care team. • Supporting a clean, organized, and safe environment throughout the department. The Patient Support Associate role might be for you if: • You take pride in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment. • You are comfortable working around patients and understand the importance of treating every patient with dignity, respect, and compassion. • You pay close attention to detail and understand that cleanliness, patient identification, equipment disinfection, and proper transport procedures are essential to patient safety. • You remain calm, focused, and attentive when transporting patients or responding to unexpected situations. • You are dependable and responsive, especially when working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly. • You enjoy being part of a team and communicating effectively with nurses, clinical staff, and other members of the department. • You are organized and can keep track of supplies, equipment, cleaning schedules, and multiple requests. • You understand the importance of following established procedures and safety standards. • You are comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask questions or escalate a patient concern. • You want to contribute to patient care in a role where your work makes a meaningful difference—even when you're working behind the scenes. To be considered for this opportunity, you must have an AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred qualifications include a High School Diploma/GED, knowledge of inventory control techniques, and hospital operating room housekeeping experience. This is a Full-Time position, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm with a weekend on-call requirement. In an Operating Room environment, preparation matters. Clean rooms, sanitized equipment, available supplies, safe patient transfers, accurate patient identification, and clear communication all contribute to the care experience. Your work helps create conditions that allow nurses, physicians, and other clinical professionals to provide the best possible care. If you're dependable, compassionate, detail-oriented, and ready to play an essential role in a patient-centered environment, this is an opportunity to bring your strengths to a team where your work truly matters and we invite you to apply today.
