Full description

Description Who We Are Goebel has been creating high-quality custom interior fixtures for leading brands in the luxury market for more than 90 years. Our work combines craftsmanship, engineering, manufacturing, and problem-solving to transform unique designs into finished environments. The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Lead Millwork Project Drafter to join our Engineering team. This is a hands-on technical and project leadership role responsible for developing custom architectural millwork and fixture drawings from initial design through manufacturing and installation. Because our work is highly customized, we're looking for someone who can interpret design intent, develop practical construction solutions, organize complex projects, and create accurate, buildable drawings. The Lead Millwork Project Drafter also coordinates and provides technical direction to drafting and support team members assigned to their projects. What You'll Do • Develop approval, shop, and production drawings for custom architectural millwork and fixtures. • Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and customer design requirements. • Develop practical solutions considering design intent, manufacturability, assembly, and installation. • Take ownership of assigned projects and keep drawings, details, finishes, and documentation organized. • Develop and maintain master finish schedules and other key project documentation. • Delegate work to drafting and support team members and review their work for accuracy and consistency. • Coordinate project handoffs, schedules, materials, and technical requirements with Project Management, Production, Purchasing, Installation, and other departments. • Create and maintain Bills of Materials and required manufacturing documentation. • Identify and resolve design, manufacturing, and installation challenges before they impact the project. • Support Production and Installation with technical questions and problem-solving as needed. • Help improve drafting standards, processes, and overall project efficiency. Requirements What We're Looking For • 5+ years of drafting, detailing, design, or related experience in architectural millwork, cabinetry, custom fixtures, furniture, or a similar manufacturing environment preferred. • Strong understanding of architectural drawings, shop drawings, and custom millwork construction. • Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD. • Experience coordinating complex projects or directing the work of other drafters/designers. • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. • High attention to detail and the ability to balance design intent, quality, manufacturability, cost, and schedule. • Experience with Bills of Materials and manufacturing ERP systems preferred. • Experience with SWOOD, Global Shop, AWI standards, metal fabrication, or specialty fixture materials is a plus. • Associate's degree in drafting, mechanical design, manufacturing technology, engineering technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered. Work Environment This position is based in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Because of the collaborative and hands-on nature of our custom manufacturing environment, on-site work is preferred. Work arrangement and flexibility may be discussed based on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means delivering accurate, buildable drawings on schedule, keeping complex projects organized, effectively coordinating support resources, anticipating problems before they reach production, and working collaboratively across departments to move projects successfully from design through installation.
