Staff Accountant - Compensation: $70,000-$80,000 annual salary - Benefits: Medical, dental and vision insurance - Location: Chicago, IL - Work Model: Hybrid — two days onsite We are hiring a Staff Accountant to join the accounting team of a growing consumer products organization in Chicago! This opportunity is ideal for someone who wants more than a routine accounting role: you'll help support a newly restructured department, contribute to essential financial processes and build a strong foundation across multiple accounting functions. What's the job? - Complete account reconciliations and research discrepancies. - Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate documentation. - Support monthly, quarterly and annual close activities. - Maintain general ledger accuracy and assist with financial reporting. - Apply accounting principles, including accruals, debits, credits and account analysis. - Assist with inventory accounting and COGS processes. - Analyze account variances and prepare supporting information. - Collaborate with team members to deliver accurate, timely accounting results. - Identify opportunities to improve processes and adapt to evolving procedures. What's needed? - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred. - 1-3+ years of experience in accounting or a similar role. - Strong knowledge of journal entries, reconciliations and accounting fundamentals. - Experience with month-end close. - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. - Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills. - Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. - ERP experience preferred, with NetSuite considered a plus. - Inventory and COGS accounting exposure preferred. - Bilingual Spanish skills highly preferred.
