Role Overview Experience: 10–15 years Location: Chennai Travel: Willingness to travel to client locations as required. We are looking for an experienced SAP Project Manager to lead SAP implementation and transformation projects from planning through go-live and stabilization. The role involves managing project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, risks, and stakeholder expectations while coordinating functional consultants, technical teams, solution architects, vendors, and client stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience managing SAP S/4HANA projects, a good understanding of SAP implementation processes, and the ability to drive delivery, manage project financials, and ensure successful outcomes. Key Responsibilities 1. Project Delivery & Governance • Lead SAP implementation and transformation projects through planning, execution, deployment, and closure. • Apply SAP Activate methodology and appropriate project governance practices. • Define project plans, milestones, deliverables, responsibilities, and reporting mechanisms. • Monitor progress against agreed scope, timelines, budgets, and quality expectations. • Identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and scope changes. • Ensure delivery activities align with project objectives and contractual commitments. 2. Scope, Budget & Commercial Management • Manage project scope, change requests, timelines, and delivery commitments. • Track project budgets, effort consumption, margins, and resource utilization. • Monitor project performance and identify deviations from estimates or plans. • Coordinate resource planning, capacity management, and financial reporting. • Ensure changes are assessed, documented, approved, and communicated appropriately. 3. Client & Stakeholder Management • Serve as the primary project-level contact for client stakeholders. • Lead project status reviews, steering committee meetings, and escalation discussions. • Communicate progress, risks, decisions, and corrective actions clearly. • Manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate timely decision-making. • Maintain alignment between business requirements, project scope, and delivery commitments. 4. Team & Resource Leadership • Coordinate functional, technical, testing, integration, and data teams. • Manage resource allocation, capacity planning, workload distribution, and accountability. • Identify resource constraints and address delivery bottlenecks. • Ensure clear ownership of deliverables across project teams. • Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. 5. Cutover, Go-Live & Quality Management • Coordinate cutover planning, readiness assessments, and go-live activities. • Oversee testing schedules, defect resolution, quality governance, and acceptance readiness. • Coordinate go-live approvals and manage dependencies across teams. • Oversee hypercare activities and facilitate timely issue resolution. • Ensure proper handover, documentation, and project closure. 6. Vendor & Contract Coordination • Coordinate vendors and subcontractors to ensure alignment with project plans and deliverables. • Monitor vendor commitments, dependencies, and delivery performance. • Work with relevant stakeholders on contracts, Statements of Work (SOWs), and change requests. • Identify and escalate contractual or delivery issues and support timely resolution. Essential Skills • Experience managing SAP implementation or transformation projects, preferably involving SAP S/4HANA. • Good understanding of SAP S/4HANA implementation and transformation lifecycles. • Practical experience with SAP Activate methodology. • Strong project planning, scope, change, risk, and dependency management skills. • Experience tracking project budgets, margins, effort, and resource utilization. • Stakeholder management, steering committee governance, and client communication. • Team leadership, resource planning, and cross-functional coordination. • Experience managing cutover, go-live, and hypercare activities. Preferred Skills • Basic functional knowledge across SAP modules and their business process dependencies. • Familiarity with contracts, SOWs, and change-request management. • Vendor and subcontractor management experience. • Understanding of quality assurance, testing governance, and defect management. • Exposure to AI-enabled tools for project tracking, reporting, and productivity. • PMP or PRINCE2 certification. Qualifications & Experience • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline. • 10–15 years of relevant experience, including SAP project delivery and stakeholder management. • Experience coordinating functional and technical teams across the project lifecycle. • Demonstrated ownership of project governance, delivery planning, resource management, and risk mitigation. • Experience managing project financials and client delivery commitments.
