Job Title: Senior SOC Analyst (2 Openings)
Location: Irving, TX or Miami, FL
Type: Contract-to-Hire (3-month contract, with a desired path to full-time conversion)
Schedule: Hybrid — 3 days onsite (Monday & Thursday fixed, plus one floater day of the analyst’s choosing), 2 days remote
Job Summary
Our client is growing a lean, all-senior Security Operations Center — expanding from 4 analysts to 7-9 — and is looking for two Senior (Tier 3+) SOC Analysts to own incident response for a Microsoft-centric security environment. This is not a Tier 1/2 team: every analyst here already operates at a senior level, carries real ownership, and is a proactive point of escalation.
This role starts as a 3-month contract. The client is not looking for a short-term stopgap — they want someone ready to prove themselves and convert to a long-term, full-time position.
Responsibilities
• Investigate and resolve Tier 3 / high-severity security alerts escalated from the client’s external MDR provider (internal team does not handle Tier 1/2 alerts).
• Triage and respond to phishing email reports and standard SOC business-as-usual alert volume.
• Perform root-cause analysis and document findings clearly for leadership.
• Act as an escalation point and communicate proactively with the team and leadership.
• Use KQL to query and investigate incidents in Microsoft Sentinel (a dedicated detection engineer owns writing new detection rules — this role is investigation-focused, not rule-building).
• Contribute to evaluating and improving internal SOC processes, with the opportunity to help build automations (GenAI tools, Power Automate, PowerShell) to increase team efficiency.
Required Qualifications
• Proven experience operating as a Tier 3 / senior SOC analyst or above — not a Tier 2 analyst looking to step up.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel, investigating and managing alerts.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), including identity- and access-related investigation.
• Hands-on experience across the Microsoft Defender suite (Endpoint, Office 365, Cloud Apps, etc.).
• Comfortable writing KQL queries to investigate incidents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to explain technical findings clearly to peers and leadership.
• No four-year degree required; an associate’s degree is fine when paired with strong, demonstrable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working alongside an external MSSP or MDR provider.
• Exposure to AI tools, Power Automate, or PowerShell scripting to drive SOC automation/efficiency.
• Security+ or similar certification (not required if experience and communication are strong).
