Full description

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. The Central Operations Team manages global infrastructure programs and standards across the data center fleet. The team is focused on: Supporting field operations. Operational support for execution (e.g., Incident Management, Fleet Deployment, Spares, and Maintenance Planning). Business support (e.g., Operational Assessments, Data Quality, Business Process support). New product introductions into the fleet. Driving long term strategic programs to transform the business. In your role as the Data Center Change Governance Program Manager, you will own, drive, and improve upon the global program by which Google’s Data Center fleet submits, evaluates, reviews, and makes decisions. The process is built upon a strong culture of respect, empowerment, data, and speed. You will engage in the process daily to ensure its running smoothly, support high priority decisions, illuminate gaps, and drive process improvements. You will also leverage your skills to help facilitate complex global decisions by breaking them down into smaller pieces. Lastly, you’ll actively work to ensure the program evolves with time, adapts to changes in business direction, and scales with future growth. The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits Learn more about benefits at Google. Responsibilities • Lead the global change governance program for Google’s Data Center fleet. • Facilitate data driven and consensus based decision making by ensuring topics are well prepared ahead of time, ensuring key stakeholders are engaged early/often, and fostering a respectful and collaborative culture across the globe. • Work closely with key stakeholders to integrate our change governance program with their change control board processes tightly and efficiently. • Monitor the overall performance and health of the process to illuminate gaps, drive improvements to close those gaps, and optimize for high quality decisions at speed and scale. • Improve awareness by developing and executing updated communications, training, and outreach plans. Minimum qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience. • 5 years of experience in program management. • Experience with change governance including workflows, processes, documentation, and mapping. • Experience using data analytics to quantify program performance. Preferred qualifications: • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects. • Experience in hardware, manufacturing, or critical infrastructure operations. • Experience with change governance software tools for intake, review, approval, documentation, communication, and metrics. • Experience expanding localized workflows into global standardized processes that can handle significant increases in volume. • Demonstrated experience connecting technical execution to business strategy.
